Collectors Sarees

All Kanjivarams are legacies to be passed down the generations; however, a select few go beyond and become part of the collectors' series. What differentiates them or qualifies them to become a collector's piece is multifactorial. It is not just the fact that the pallu is unique or that the border is special. It is no different to the vintage cars or some rare paintings. In the case of paintings, they become a rarity simply by the fact that the artist is no more if the artist was of fame and repute during his/her lifetime.

When it comes to sarees, however, it is the entirety that makes the difference, not only the fact that the weave may not be available in another colour or colour combination, but also that the thread and the tones are a one-off, apart from the design itself, carrying it into the collectors' category.
